Definition | A mechanical device that joins two separately-fabricated parts of a fixed bridge, consisting of male and female components that are cast into the restorations. Designed to reduce or transfer stress from one or more of the abutment teeth. Often used to join misaligned abutments which cannot be joined by a single fixed bridge. |
