Definition | A dental implant whose abutment interface includes a (usually) hexagonal shape to prevent rotation of the abutment. There are two main types: 1. External hex, where the male portion is in the implant and the female portion is in the abutment. 2. Internal hex, where the female portion is in the implant and the male portion is in the abutment. |
