Definition | An intracoronal (not covering the cusps) fixed restoration. There are two types of inlay: 1. A direct inlay, where the dentist fills the preparation directly in the mouth with a composite or amalgam. 2. An indirect inlay, made in the laboratory from metal, porcelain or composite and cemented or bonded into the tooth. |
