3Shape Anatomical Design for Posterior Restorations

The course includes a focused study of posterior anatomy which supplies much of the missing knowledge from previous training or experience. Additionally, one day is devoted to contouring posterior crowns in wax to give the technician an enhanced perspective of tooth shape and the differences of looking at an object from 2D and 3D perspective. The remaining time is devoted to developing a thorough understanding of using 3Shape tools to design accurate posterior crowns using PTC's 16-step procedure.

Students' designs are 3D-printed for verification on the models that they have learned and successfully applied their knowledge to create beautiful restorations.

The waxing portion of this course is particularly valuable to technicians with no hands-on experience, and reinforces manual skills in experienced technicians trying to transition to CAD. The digital portion of the course gives each technician, whether beginning or experienced, the certainty that they can translate what they have learned into valuable skills for employment in dental design. The result is more consistent and anatomically correct crowns that require the minimum amount of post-processing.
